I mentioned the square between Uranus & Pluto the other day. These are slow movers, as planets go—Uranus takes 84 years to circle the Sun; and Pluto a stunning 224. Uranus changes sign every 5 years or so, give or take for retrograde motion; Pluto—whose orbit is erratic—can take up to 20, making it a generational influence. These Titans appear in every chart; but unless they are emphasized by aspect to other natal planets or activated by transiting ones, they remain sleeping giants.
Not at the moment.
Whenever slow moving planets near one another in aspect, and especially when the connection is exact, things HAPPEN. Because the connection is sustained over time, MANY things happen. If the aspect is benign, well and good; if it is challenging, harder. Either way, society changes according to the nature of the planet and the sign it occupies.
Uranus is in Aries, ruled by Mars. Uranus is rebellious, inventive, erratic, eccentric, and cranky; Aries is fiercely independent and individualistic, and potentially immature. The mixture is volatile.
Pluto, by contrast, occupies Capricorn, ruled by Saturn—the planet of age and time and limitation. Capricorn concerns itself with structure, particularly institutions and governments; and since Pluto tends to overhaul any sign or planet it transits, these things are being shaken to their core. Transformation comes at a price.
And these two are in conflict.
The last time Uranus and Pluto met one another in difficult aspect was during the '60s; and in the years 1964-66 the world altered course radically. That conjunction took place in the sign of Virgo, which rules health, working conditions, nutrition, fashion, and daily routines, all from the standpoint of purification and improvement. Virgo is critical to a purpose.
Beginning in June of 2012, Uranus and Pluto will make 7 exact 90• aspects (squares) in all; the 4th one is November 1st, 2013, and that one happens 2 days before an Eclipse.
Hold onto your hats, folks. We live in interesting times.
